Relationships with Food
My relationship started off like any other story. However, disaster struck when I was 6, I was diagnosed with Diabetes. This meant I lost the sweet part of my deal with food. The part where you can sit down to a meal and relax. From then on I had to calculate carbohydrates, eat at specified times, and take injections after every meal. My relationship with food affected my life and my relationships with others. Once i was diagnosed I wasn't allowed to spend the night at other kids houses unless their parents knew how to give me shots. My friend group was severely limited. Therefore I learned to make the most of my time in school. I grew the courage to tell jokes and make friends with the few available hours I could steal from the teach with my loud voice and obnoxious jokes. The teachers were always scheduling "parent-teacher conferences." When I was finally mature enough to take care of myself and monitor the food I was eating I became a less obnoxious child and more devoted to learning in school rather than goofing round.
